Large-Scale Employment

Dynamic development of Vyborgsky Port, its reconstruction and technical modernization made it possible to take one hundred new employees this year.
Though the world economic crisis still lasts, competition for vacancies is in progress as before.
By the beginning of the autumn-winter season  the personnel service of Vyborg summarized results of work on estimation of working places and personnel rotation  carried out this year.
Modern technical eqipment, new approaches to management on the whole as well as wider nomenclature of handled cargoes  and use of innovations in technology reqire effective methods.
Now the main tendency is personnel rotation. Thus, the collective was  renewed by more than 15 %.
As a result of these changes the collective became much younger. Since the beginning of the current year the number of workers who are younger than  forty increased by 17 %. They are all  natives of Vyborg and this fact refutes a popular opinion that  young people do not want to become workers. It should be noted that in most cases it is extra-mural students of Vyborg institutes who are employed as workers. It makes their adaptation easier and guarantees a higher responsibility. Later they  become engineers thus making career in their own collective.
The number of employees who are older than fifty has not reduced. In the Port their high qualification and experience are much appreciated. It is also important that these older workers take an active part in the teaching of beginners.
It must be taken into consideration that often whole families work in Vyborg Port. Sometimes only husband and wife work together but in many cases representatives of a few generations labour side by side.
The townsfolk and the administration of Vyborg do their best to keep and develop these traditions. Due to the Port management’s support many employees were awarded the rank of the Veteran of Labour.
The management of the Port is sure that the right way was chosen. A large-scale rotation will last at least half a year longer, so citizens of Vyborg will have a chance to be employed which is very important in the current complex economic situation.
